The Ciutadella is a military fortification of octagonal shape and five bastions, dating from the year 1543 when the Emperor Carlos V visited the Bay of Roses and decided on the foritfication of the town. The interior accomodates the remains of almost all the ages from the 14th century a.C. until the 19th century. The Cuitadella of Roses fully fulfilled the defensive function for which is was designed, it was attacked during all of the wars which were declared between France and Spain.

The trinity Castle is situated on the point of lookout and defense at the point of La Poncella on top of 66 meters of rock and above the sea and the lighthouse of Roses. It is a military construction dating from the year 1544, it was built under the reign og Emporor Carlos V who placed the first stone. It has an irregular floor shape which forms a star with four points. In conjunction, the fortification was divided into three floors of terraces which accomodated the rooms necessary to take in more than 200 men, provisions and ammunition to resist long seiges.

The first settlers of Roses left their mark by means of burial chambers spread out a short distance from the center of town. The Dolmen of the "Creu de la Cobertella" one of the most important in Catalunya for its dimensions, was declared an artistic historic monument in 1964. Following a famous route,, you can also admire the two "menhirs" of the "Casa Cremada", the Dolmen of the "Llit de la Generala", the Dolmen of the "Cap de l'Home", and finally the cave-dolmen of "Rec de la Cuana" dating from 2500 a.C.

Situated in the urbanisation Puig Rom in Roses, it was constructed with the final defenses during the passing of the 8th century, of oval shape, with two streches almost parallel. The entrance to the area was found oriented at noon and was flagged by two square towers. In the interior, numerous remainders of ceramics have been found, bronze pieces, objects made of iron and above all, agricultural tools. It was declared as a place of National Cultural Interest in 1963.
